The Roy Foundation began not as a plan, but as a promise.

Over the years, our family and the people closest to us faced nearly every kind of medical hardship this foundation now exists to fight. We have lost people we love to heart attacks that came without warning, including one taken far too young. We have grieved children in our own circle born with congenital conditions that never had the chance to be caught early or treated in time. We have watched cancer move through friends and extended family more times than we can count, and while most were fortunate enough to receive proper treatment and recover, not everyone was. And within our own family, we grew up watching a woman's health quietly shape an entire household, year after year, in ways that never fully went away.

Each of these experiences taught us the same lesson, from a different direction every time. The outcome so rarely came down to the diagnosis itself. It came down to how quickly proper care could be reached, and whether a family could afford it when it mattered most. A child born with a heart defect in a place with no cardiac center faces a fundamentally different future than a child born with the same defect near a children's hospital. A cancer caught early and treated properly is survivable more often than not; caught late, or without access to treatment, the same disease tells a very different story. We didn't come to this cause through statistics. We came to it through loss, through fear, and in some cases, through the relief of watching someone we love make it through because the right care reached them in time.

When we built our company, we decided early that if it succeeded, it wouldn't only be ours. We committed to giving 10% of our profits directly to patient care, no matter what year it was or how the business was doing. The Roy Foundation, named for the family that shaped us, is where that commitment lives.

But as we built it, we saw a problem we couldn't ignore, one that exists across much of the charitable world. At many organizations, a meaningful portion of every donation never reaches the patient at all. In some cases, out of every $100 given, up to $60 actually reaches the person it was meant to help, with the rest absorbed by administrative costs, overhead, and fundraising expenses. And even when funds do get through, donors are rarely told who their money helped or what happened to them. You give, and then you simply have to trust the process.

We built The Roy Foundation to close that gap. Our founders personally cover all operating costs, so 100% of every donation, down to the card processing fee, goes directly to a patient's care. Nothing is deducted along the way. And unlike most organizations, we tell you exactly who you're funding: you'll receive that patient's story and updates on their recovery, so you can see precisely where your donation went and the difference it made.

Today, The Roy Foundation funds treatment for children with congenital conditions, cardiac patients, cancer patients, and women's health, one person at a time. We chose these four causes because they are the ones that shaped us, the ones where we've seen, up close, exactly what it costs a family when care doesn't arrive in time, and exactly what it means when it does.

Every dollar counts. There's no minimum to give, and every donor, no matter the amount, gets the same transparency: a real patient, a real story, and real updates on their recovery. That's not a feature we added on. It's the entire reason this foundation exists.

One thing worth deciding before this goes live: this version pulls in specific personal details from all four causes (the heart attacks, the congenital loss, the cancer recoveries, the woman's health in the family) in one place. That's more emotionally complete, but it also means a reader gets the fuller picture of your family's history all at once, rather than spread across separate sections.
